How to Zero-Out a Windows machine (Have the Windows Boot CD)

A Win 7 boot CD will work for Vista, Windows 8.1, haven’t test on Win 10 yet as well, if needed.

Better to use the Boot CD instead of the other random data destruction and other programs (linux, iso’s)

Boot to CD

Make sure to bring up the command prompt option

cmd

Type in “format c: /fs:NTFS”

If you need the current volume label for the drive. Use the command ‘vol c:’

It will read back: Volume in drive C is XXXXX (Sometimes it can say recovery)

Go back to “format c: /fs:NTFS” then type in the right volume label, and it will prompt the warning. Press enter. It will zero-out the PC

Capture1

It will zero out the entire C drive correctly.
